House dust mites
House dust mites are arachnids found in every household, living in dust, textiles, carpets, beds, and upholstered furniture. These mites belong to the Pyroglyphidae family, with the most prominent species being Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Dermatophagoides farinae. House dust mites contain allergens, which are proteins or substances that can trigger allergic reactions.
Humans are primarily exposed to house dust mites and other indoor allergens, particularly in enclosed environments. People who are atopic (prone to allergies) may develop an allergic response after exposure. Common allergic reactions include eczema, conjunctivitis, asthma symptoms, and rhinitis.
