Expanding our allergen portfolio: from house dust mites to a broad range of research-grade allergens

Over the past years, Citeq Biologics has significantly expanded its allergen portfolio to meet the evolving needs of allergy research and diagnostics. While we initially specialized in house dust mite allergens, we have since developed and introduced a wide variety of high-quality, research-grade allergens including pollens, food allergens, insect venoms, cockroach extracts, animal dander, and mold (fungal) allergens.

Our focus remains on providing reliable, well-characterized biological materials that support immunological and allergological research worldwide. Below is an overview of the major allergen categories now available in our portfolio.

  1. House Dust Mite Allergens

House dust mites were the cornerstone of our original product offering—and they remain a central component of our catalog. We produce high-quality extracts and purified allergens from various mite species:

  • Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus
  • Dermatophagoides farinae
  • Blomia tropicalis
  • Euroglyphus maynei

These allergens are widely used in research into allergic sensitization, immune responses, and cross-reactivity among mite species.

  1. Pollen Allergens

To support research into seasonal allergic rhinitis and pollen sensitization, we offer a diverse selection of pollen allergens from trees, grasses, and weeds, including:

  • Grasses: Phleum pratense, Lolium perenne
  • Trees: Betula verrucosa, Alnus glutinosa, Corylus avellana
  • Weeds: Artemisia vulgaris, Ambrosia artemisiifolia
  1. Food Allergens

Food allergies represent a growing area of concern and scientific investigation. Citeq provides food allergen extracts for a variety of commonly allergenic foods, such as:

  • Peanut
  • Hazelnut, cashew, walnut, almond, pistachio
  • Soy, lentil and sesame

These materials are intended exclusively for in vitro research and analytical use—not for therapeutic applications—and are designed to ensure batch-to-batch consistency.

  1. Insect Venom Allergens

  • Bee venom: Apis mellifera
  • Wasp venom: Vespula vulgaris/vespula germanica

Our venom allergens are suitable for research purposes only.

  1. Cockroach Allergens

Urban allergy research often focuses on cockroach allergens, particularly due to their association with asthma in children. Our cockroach extracts include:

  • Blattella germanica
  • Periplaneta americana
  • Blatta orientalis
  1. Animal Dander Allergens

Recognizing the prevalence of pet allergies, we have expanded our offerings to include cat and dog dander extracts:

  • Cat Dander Extract: Derived from the dander of healthy domestic cats (Felis domesticus), our cat dander extract is freeze-dried and well-characterized for research applications.
  • Dog Dander Extract: Sourced from healthy dogs (Canis familiaris)

  1. Mold (Fungal) Allergens

Mold spores are significant indoor and outdoor allergens. Citeq Biologics offers a range of mold allergen extracts, including Alternaria alternata and Aspergillus fumigatus, known for its relevance in respiratory allergy research.

Commitment to Research and Quality

At Citeq Biologics, we are committed to supporting allergy and immunology research through the production of highly characterized, research-grade biological allergens. Our products are manufactured under stringent quality controls.

Whether you’re developing new in vitro diagnostic methods or conducting fundamental immunological studies, our broad allergen portfolio can support your scientific goals.
