The number of bed bug infestations in the Netherlands is increasing. This poses a health risk and has a negative impact on capacity in hotels, healthcare institutions, and the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). Early detection supported by an advisory service could provide a solution.

For this reason, BioVisible and Citeq are developing a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test and a lateral flow rapid test for the detection of bed bugs. This project is co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund 2021–2027 (ERDF).
